ME support groups in Wales

There are currently 4 local ME support groups in Wales. These are independent and run by people with ME and their carers. WAMES would be pleased to hear from anyone who runs a small group, no matter how informal, or from anyone who would like assistance in setting up local meetings.

Anglesey & Gwynedd Fibromyalgia / ME Group

Background: The Anglesey and Gwynedd Groups merged in 2009.

Clwyd ME Support Group

Background: The group has been operating in north east Wales (Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham county, Conwy valley) since 1992.

Activities: Meetings; Regular newsletter; Local awareness raising; Young People’s Support Group; Conferences

ME Support in Glamorgan (MESiG)

Background: The group began in 1993. Members of all ages are welcome from anyone with a CF postcode.

Activities: Monthly meetings are held in Cardiff; Newsletter

The Mid & West Wales ME Group (MWWMEG)

Background: This group is the result of a merger between 3 groups in 2002: West Wales, Brecknock and Mid Wales. The membership comes from Ceredigion, southern Gwynedd (Merioneth), Powys, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Bridgend, Gwent, Neath Port Talbot and the Swansea area.

Activities: Meetings in various locations; Bi-monthly newsletter; Helpline; Postal library; Fundraising; Local campaigning & publicity; Alliances
