Independent Living blog post: Website testing for people with disabilities

Inclusight is a new enterprise that aims to help websites become more accessible by getting feedback from people with disabilities.

A lot of websites are too complicated to use and for this reason inaccessible for people with disabilities.

Inclusight believes they can improve their accessibility by giving disabled people an opportunity to go through the websites and provide feedback about how easy they are to use.

What are the website testing opportunities?
The tester will be prompted to go through a website and attempt a series of tasks.

There are no good or bad answers. The goal is to have the tester experience the website so that we can understand what needs to be improved.

Carers are more than welcome to be present during the testing.

How much do testers get paid?
Testers are always rewarded for their feedback. The average reward is between £50 and £90 per test!

The average time to undertake a test is between 30 minutes and one hour.

Who can become a website tester?
Testers do not need to have experience in website testing. Internet novices and more experienced users are welcome.

We are looking for:

  • people with any kind of impairment
  • people who use assistive technology
  • people who struggle with technology
  • senior citizens
