Embracing Progress competition promotes disabled rights

Embracing Progress

Solicitors firm Irwin Mitchell is organising Embracing Progress – an online photography competition which aims to demonstrate that every disabled person has the right to live their life, embrace their disability and achieve their goals.

The competition has four categories: Ambition; Independence; People; and Work/Education. Here is some guidance to get your creativity flowing!

Ambition

For this category, pictures should be of someone making progress, working hard to achieve their ambitions and to realise their full potential. It doesn’t matter how big or small the task they are engaged on.

Independence

Progress towards independent living and inclusion within the local community – these are the themes for images within the Independence category, demonstrating the positive impact this has on the disabled person and their family.

People

In the People category, they are looking for pictures which communicate the distinctive character and personality traits that make someone unique, not just their impairment or condition.

Work/Education

Here, images should capture someone learning new skills, meeting new people, or working as part of a team to be successful at work, school or college.

The photo competition is looking to attract people who want to communicate their vision of Embracing Progress in an educational, creative and community-spirited way. Images should be positive and empowering – as well as attention-grabbing, of course!

How To Enter

Entering the competition is easy. Simply upload your photo using the online form on the Irwin Mitchell website There are two age categories: 17 or under, and 18 or over.

Technical photographic skill is not the most important thing. Entrants of all abilities are welcome, and the judges are looking for your own personal perception of Embracing Progress.

The winner of each category will receive an iPad, and there will also be £300 of Amazon vouchers for the overall competition winner.

The closing date is midnight on Sunday 22 November 2015.
