Writers in Wales are being invited to apply for a bursary to support their creative work in the genres of graphic novels, short stories, poetry, literary criticism, biography and autobiography, children’s literature, teenage fiction and factual prose of literary merit.

Applicants may apply for a New/Emerging Writer’s Bursary, a Published Writer’s Bursary or a Support Fund Bursary.

Applicants for a New/Emerging Writer’s Bursary or a Published Writer’s Bursary should apply for a fixed-sum bursary and demonstrate why that particular sum is required to complete the work in progress. Applicants may apply for £10,000, £5,000, £2,000 or £1,000.

Support Fund Bursaries are awarded to assist writers with mobility problems or disabilities, who require specialist equipment to enable them to write and research the work in progress. Applications should apply for a fixed-sum Support Fund Bursary, and demonstrate why that particular sum is required to complete the work in progress. Applicants may apply for £2,000 or £1,000.

Applications can be made by writers working in any language. Writers must be resident in Wales at the time of the application and continue to reside in Wales throughout the duration of the Bursary.

The closing date for applications for 2015 bursaries is Friday 24 October 2014 (5pm).
