Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the organisation that delivers your NHS health services in North Wales.

They are asking people to let them know what you think of their services as they work to pull themselves out of special measures.

Update re ME services:

  • The Health Board was first told in 2010 to develop a pathway and improve services for people with ME & CFS.
  • After repeated requests from the Welsh Government and head of the NHS for action, they eventually appointed an executive and a clinical lead in 2015. Both leads already had a full workload and no admin support was given.
  • The executive lead left in early 2016 and his replacement has recently been appointed: Evan Moore, Medical Director.
  • There is no recognised pathway and limited support services for some patients at the 2 CFS services in Connah’s Quay and Llanfairfechan .
  • The clinical lead, Simon Neal, head of the ME/CFS service in Connah’s Quay, has been told ME could be overseen by the Neuro service network, but no progress has been made.

BCUHB Press release: Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – delivering a healthier north Wales

Whilst the health board delivers good healthcare in a number of areas it has faced specific challenges and was placed in special measures in June 2015. The health board is making progress on the steps set out by the Welsh Government under the initial phase set out in its improvement plan.

To further this progress the Welsh Government is seeking the views of people throughout North Wales on how we can ensure continued sustainable and improved health outcomes. We define health outcomes as a healthier population that stay well and are restored to health as quickly as possible when they do become sick.

Why get involved
Your views matter and will help the Welsh Government, the health board and its partners plan for the future. Your views will be collated and presented to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being & Sport for his consideration. He will report on the initial conclusions before Christmas and will share these with the health board and their partners. This will help with the planning and on-going engagement with people throughout North Wales.
