There is still much disagreement and confusion in the medical profession about the nature of ME and CFS. Different schools of thought have produced guidelines with significantly different approaches.<\/p>\n<p>The following acknowledge the neurological classification of ME <a title=\"ICD 10 G93.3\" href=\"http:\/\/apps.who.int\/classifications\/apps\/icd\/icd10online\/index.htm?gg90.htm\">ICD10 G93:3<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Canadian guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cfids-cab.org\/MESA\/ccpc.html\">Canadian guidelines<\/a> &#8211; In 2005 WAMES endorsed these guidelines as \u2018being the best current example of medical guidelines for the immuno-neurological condition called ME\u2019.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"International guidelines 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Myalgic-Encephalomyelitis-International-Consensus-Primer-2012-11-26.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International guidelines<\/a> &#8211; In 2012 an international group of physicians built on the Canadian guidelines to produce a wider consensus document.(This edition can be printed in black &amp; white apart from the first and last page)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Doctor's guide to ME in children and young people\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tymestrust.org\/pdfs\/drguide.pdf\">The doctor\u2019s guide to ME in children and young people<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following guidelines have a psycho-social emphasis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"NICE guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/guidance.nice.org.uk\/CG53\">NICE guidelines<\/a> \u2013 read <a title=\"WAMES response to NICE guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/NICE-WAMES-Statement1.pdf\">WAMES&#8217; response to NICE guidelines<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"RCPCH guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rcpch.ac.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/asset_library\/Research\/Clinical%20Effectiveness\/cfs.pdf\">RCPCH guidelines<\/a> &#8211; read WAMES&#8217; response to RCPCH guidelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Welsh Assembly Government acknowledges that ME is a chronic disease and that there \u2018remains a lack of evidence and consensus on appropriate assessment and treatment.\u2019 The following documents illustrate the Government attitude to ME and CFS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Chronic conditions management\" href=\"http:\/\/wales.gov.uk\/topics\/health\/nhswales\/healthstrategy\/ccm\/currentstrategies\/chronicconditionsmanagement\/?skip=1&amp;lang=en\">Chronic conditions management<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Task &amp; Finish Group Report on CFS\/ME\" href=\"http:\/\/wales.gov.uk\/docs\/dhss\/publications\/100621reportmecysen.pdf \">Task &amp; Finish Group Report on CFS\/ME<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guidelines &amp; Policies Over the years many guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of ME and CFS have been published but none have achieved acceptance by all.
