ME\/CFS has been diagnosed in children younger than 10 years. Therefore, the school nurse is likely to encounter one or more students in the various stages of this disease, putting the school nurse in a position to ameliorate the impact of this potentially devastating chronic condition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sci-hub.tw\/10.1177\/1942602X18795299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read full article<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<strong>Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Role of the School Nurse<\/strong><br \/>\nThe role of the school nurse in\u00a0assisting a student with ME\/CFS falls into\u00a0three main categories:<\/p>\n<p>(1) being\u00a0informed about the disease,<\/p>\n<p>(2)\u00a0recognizing the signs and symptoms of\u00a0the disease in the student, and educating\u00a0school staff and families about the\u00a0disease and its impact, and<\/p>\n<p>(3)\u00a0advocating for accommodations and\u00a0modifications in the school setting, and\u00a0assisting the student in managing what is\u00a0most likely to be a modified educational\u00a0program on his or her return to school\u00a0(Centers for Disease Control and\u00a0Prevention [CDC], 2017b).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School nurses can improve the lives of students with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis\/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, by Kenneth J.
