‘Tis the season –\u00a0 a poem by Carw<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Surprised, yet again, by Autumnal torpor,
\nand, in wondering what to do,
\nas is our pain,
\nI settle to observing rain,
\nand the consequent habits of snails,
\nand the number of blackbirds that take\u00a0 to my lawn,
\nwith their wet and muddy probing beaks.<\/p>\n

\"\"A manifesto at least
\nwould offer some certainty,
\nbut in the absence of whence,
\nstuff happens,<\/p>\n

I think I will give up thinking,
\nand accede to cycles,
\nthere is just conceit in complications.
\nWhen hungry, I’ll eat,<\/p>\n

and then check the rain
\nfor humility and common sense.<\/p>\n

Or I could\u00a0 carp at the stars in the night,
\nare you listening, stars…
\nwell pay attention…
\nyou send me to sleep, do you hear?
\nWell might you hide behind that cloud.<\/p>\n

Or, having recovered from that,
\nI could shout the dawn down
\nfor waking me up.<\/p>\n

I will not be buying
\nfull spectrum daylight
\nin prescriptive Watts,
\nor in likelihood less,
\nGoogling Amazon for darkness in June.<\/p>\n

It’s so much better
\nto deliquesce.<\/p>\n
