Results are now available in the Wales Neurological Alliance (WNA) report: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walesneurologicalalliance.org.uk\/news\/my-neuro-survey-wales-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Neuro Survey Wales<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>People living with neurological conditions in Wales continue to report substantial barriers to accessing the treatment, services and support that they need from health and social care services. [WNA]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>Survey aim?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To understand the demand for and impact of services for people living with neurological<br \/>\nconditions in Wales<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of those who completed the questionnaire, 93% (n=462) lived with a neurological<br \/>\ncondition; 7% were carers, friends or family members of a person with a neurological<br \/>\ncondition.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The most reported conditions were:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Multiple sclerosis 23.1%<\/li>\n<li>Other 22.3% (includes people with ME)]<\/li>\n<li>Dystonia 10.7%<\/li>\n<li>Epilepsy 9.1%<\/li>\n<li>Migraine 7.6%<\/li>\n<li>Parkinson&#8217;s 7.6%<\/li>\n<li>Myasthenia 7.6%<\/li>\n<li>Huntington\u2019s 4.4%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Results<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There were several themes emerging from the My Neuro Survey, these include:<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36052 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Neuro-report-2022.jpg?resize=880%2C490&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"880\" height=\"490\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 880px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 880\/490;\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Wales Neurological Alliance&#8217;s response:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>Urgent action is now required by those who plan, commission and deliver our services to address the shortcomings and ensure that people living with neurological conditions are not left behind in the post COVID recovery planning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walesneurologicalalliance.org.uk\/news\/my-neuro-survey-wales-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download the report in Welsh and English<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What next?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33909 alignright lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WNA-new-logo.png?resize=300%2C67&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"67\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WNA-new-logo.png?w=300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WNA-new-logo.png?resize=150%2C34&amp;ssl=1 150w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/67;\" \/>WAMES, as part of the WNA, are backing the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walesneurologicalalliance.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neurological Early Diagnosis Co-production Group<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/campaigns.mssociety.org.uk\/page\/106592\/petition\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#Backthe1in6 petition<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\">1 in 6 people in the UK live\u00a0with a neurological condition, but there simply isn&#8217;t the workforce or services in place to support them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\">From delays to lifechanging treatment and care, to a lack of mental health support, we need Governments across the UK to back the 1 in 6, and set up a Neuro Taskforce to deliver real change.\u00a0\u00a0Sign our petition\u00a0today!<\/p>\n<p>WAMES (and the WNA) are also in discussions with the Welsh Government Neuro \/ ME lead, exploring ways to help Health Boards improve healthcare for people with ME and <strong>#ImplementNICEmecfs<\/strong>.
