{"id":4466,"date":"2015-01-28T14:04:17","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T14:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/?p=4466"},"modified":"2015-01-28T14:04:17","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T14:04:17","slug":"useful-symptom-questionnaire-to-aid-me-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wames.org.uk\/cms-english\/useful-symptom-questionnaire-to-aid-me-diagnosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Useful symptom questionnaire to aid ME diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>\u00a0Research abstract<\/h3>\n<p>Background:<br \/>\nThe DePaul Symptom Questionnaire (DSQ) was developed to provide a structured approach for collecting standardized symptomatology and health history information to allow researchers and clinicians to determine whether a patient meets the diagnostic criteria for myalgic encephalomyelitis\/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME\/CFS), myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), and\/or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).<\/p>\n<p>Purpose:<br \/>\nThe purpose of this study was to examine the test-retest reliability of the DSQ.<\/p>\n<p>Methods:<br \/>\nTest-retest reliability of the measure was examined with a sample of<br \/>\n26 adults self-identifying as having either ME\/CFS, ME, and\/or CFS and<br \/>\n25 adults who did not self-identify as having these illnesses and were otherwise healthy controls.<\/p>\n<p>Results:<br \/>\nOverall, the majority of items on the DSQ exhibited good to excellent test-retest reliability, with Pearson&#8217;s or kappa correlation coefficients that were 0.70 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>Conclusions:<br \/>\nThus, the present study suggests that the DSQ is a reliable diagnostic measure that can provide a standardized way of examining illness constructs and symptomatology among patients who identify as having ME\/CFS, ME, and\/or CFS.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Test-retest reliability of the DePaul symptom questionnaire\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/21641846.2014.978110#.VMjr_E1yazz\" target=\"_blank\">Test-retest reliability of the DePaul Symptom Questionnaire<\/a>, by Leonard A.
