The Extra Costs Commission has published its final report, having spent the last year exploring the extra costs faced by disabled people and their families.

The Commission has considered evidence about the problem of extra costs and identified solutions for driving down these costs.

There are 16 recommendations for driving down extra costs that are targeted at four groups:

  • Disabled people and their families
  • Businesses
  • Disability organisations
  • Regulators and government

A number of organisations have committed to taking forward several of the Commission’s recommendations. The Commission will reconvene in June 2016 to review progress made against its recommendations.
